Abstract

There are three areas of law where study on ethics has yielded fruitful results. To begin with, there are many similarities between the academic field of ethics and law, as well as between the subject matter of ethics and the field of law itself. The two fields have the characteristics of being multidisciplinary, normative, argumentative, and hermeneutic. Second, the fields share many core ideas, like democracy, human rights, and justice, and there is substantial overlap between them. Third, discussions of ethics and moral principles are commonplace in the legal profession since it is a normatively open activity. Ethical considerations are necessary for legal scholars and practitioners who want to investigate the boundaries of the right to privacy and the actions that a "reasonable man" would be required to take. Consequently, ethics and legal studies are like a brother and sister: very comparable and closely connected fields.
