The Struggle for Freedom: Key Movements and Figures Behind India's Independence Day

In this article we will see the important movements and people in shaping India their fight for independence leading upto August 15, 1947. Through an exploration of movements and protests, ranging from early-19th-century revolts to the mass mobilizations of the 20th century such as The Revolt Of 1857, Non-Cooperation Movement, Civil Disobedience Movement and Quit India Movement etc. The roles of major leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhas Chandra Bose and Bhagat Singh in galvanizing the popular movement against British colonialism are also critically analysed. The article also discusses the social and political reasons, which had necessitated a demand for liberty, the kind of adversities that confronted this struggle, as well as whether these efforts at independence really played any role in paving the way ahead towards freedom. The article seeks to, therefore, develop an encompassing comprehension of the intricate and serpentine conflict that is responsible for one generation later in India being a sovereign nation.
